Who is Marianne Williams?
I know first-hand how much gut symptoms can affect your quality of life—because I’ve lived with them myself for many years. It was my own experience that drove me to specialise in this area, determined to understand it properly and help others get the right support.
Back in 2010, I was one of the first 10 dietitians in the UK to be trained in the Low FODMAP Diet by King’s College London. Since then, I’ve supported thousands of people with gut problems, and I set up the first NHS ‘Dietetic-Led Primary Care Gastroenterology Clinic’ in the UK to make specialist care more accessible.
My research has been published in medical journals, and I’ve worked as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, helping to lead improvements in digestive health care
Over the years, I’ve been honoured to receive awards including NHS England’s Allied Health Professional of the Year, the NHS Digital Practice Award, the NICE (National Institute of Health & Care Excellence) Shared Learning Award, and an NHS Recognition Award. I was also proud to be recognised with the Outstanding Contribution of the Year at the Digital Health Awards for my work in developing digital patient education.
I hold an MSc in allergy with distinction from Southampton Medical School and am a member of the British Dietetic Association and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
